Originally, “kimono” was the Japanese word for clothing. But in more recent years, the word has been used to refer specifically to traditional Japanese clothing. Kimonos as we know them today came into being during the Heian period (794-1192).
But the kimono jackets that we have been seeing everywhere are really nothing like a Japanese kimono. Kimono jackets are perfect for warmer weather because they’re light and airy, but still cover you up if you’re chilly or you just want something on your shoulders. They come in all sorts of beautiful patterns, and they can be worn with absolutely everything.
This particular long kimono is one of my favourites from my collection. The lace details give it the extra wow factor. Styling this Kimono with a pair of white distressed denim pants and a plain cropped top is just one of the thousand ways you can style it. This is definitely a must-have for your wardrobe.
